Is the Search for Extraterrestrial Life Doomed to Fail? Essay

The quest for extraterrestrial life isn't destined to come up short. Old Egyptians, Chinese, Babylonians, Indians, and Sumerians had all put stock in the presence of extraterrestrial life, regardless of whether they were mainly centered around holy messengers and devils in their conviction. The Jewish Talmud expressed that there are at any rate eighteen thousand different universes. Hindu conviction likewise spun around different universes in contact with one another. The Muslims’ Qur’an says, â€Å"All acclaim has a place with God, Lord of all the worlds† other than referencing blessed messengers and jinns (â€Å"Extraterrestrial Life†). In this manner researchers have enough help from chronicled and strict conventions of mankind to continue looking for extraterrestrial life. This inquiry may go on until humankind takes a quantum jump, or hits the purpose of a forward leap in its undertaking. All things considered, the majority of the logical revelations and jumps didn't happen without relentless endeavors and firm confidence in the way that we will in the long run endure. In addition, researchers are the absolute generally steady and sure people on earth today, who realize that they will endure. James F. Kasting composed, â€Å"Habitable planets are probably going to exist around stars not very unique in relation to the Sun if current speculations about earthly atmosphere development are right. A portion of these planets may have advanced life, and a portion of the possessed planets may have developed O2-rich atmospheres† (291). We are accepting that different species on different planets in our universe might be living in conditions fundamentally the same as our own. At the end of the day, in human understanding extraterrestrial life must include the utilization of water, daylight, air, and so on. Notwithstanding, in the event that we put stock in blessed messengers and jinns of the chronicled and strict customs, we are instinctually mindful that these species don't depend on the sorts of earthbound conditions that we depend on. Consequently, we may need to change our center IS THE SEARCH FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE DOOMED TO FAIL? Page # 2 on earthly conditions so as to discover verification of extraterrestrial life. We may find, for instance, that various employments of focal points to twist light or to utilize it in an alternate manner †would permit us to see holy messengers. Our reality has spoken enough about Unidentified Flying Objects or UFO’s. In spite of the photos and onlookers of UFO’s, a great many people in mainstream researchers won't trust in UFO’s and furthermore encourage the general population toward mistrust, in light of the fact that most of researchers looking for extraterrestrial life have not up to this point had the chance to catch and analyze outsiders coming out of the UFO’s. But then, there is discussion about outsider catch from Area 51 in California. There are innumerable reports, actually, about the presence of UFO’s. In the event that all researchers were to put stock in the wonders of UFO’s now, one of the prerequisites to prove their conviction would be a sure degree of command over the extraterrestrial life. Seeing that researchers have not up to this point figured out how to practice power over UFO’s and outsiders, the manner in which they have authority over their spaceships, the vast majority of them guarantee that UFO’s and outsiders might be a deception. By and by, this is simply because outsiders and UFO’s have not exposed themselves to human examination the manner in which people yield to human science tests. NASA’s Chief Historian, Steven J. Dick has composed that one of the most significant undertakings of NASA attempted since the start of the Space Age has been the quest for life past earth. Truly, in the year 1962 the Space Science Board of the National Academy of Sciences had pronounced that NASA’s early space science endeavors had the quest for extraterrestrial life as the prime objective. Additionally, composes Dick, NASA accepts that â€Å"Without natural particles, the structure squares of life, life can't exist. † To put it another way, the most IS THE SEARCH FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE DOOMED TO FAIL? Page # 3 significant logical dare to look for extraterrestrial life doesn't think about extraterrestrial life being anything not at all like life on earth. In scientists’ see, extraterrestrial life must be founded on conditions that are fundamentally the same as those for life on earth. For instance of its logical triumph in the quest for extraterrestrial life, NASA accepts that it has discovered proof of water streaming on Mars. Alex Stone composes that the nearness of water enormously improves the probability that living life forms once flourished with the planet, maybe still possess Mars today. Thus, Stone states: Pictures taken by the camera on NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor recommend that rivulets of fluid water were streaming on the Red Planet inside the previous barely any years may at present be streaming today, gushing from underneath the Martian surface and spilling down crevasses along the slanting dividers of effect holes. †¦. However, is the fluid streaming down these crevasses truly water? Likely, state specialists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, however more proof is expected to seal the case. â€Å"You can never be sure from orbit,† says Ken Edgett, an individual from the exploration group that made the revelation. â€Å"But this is the best proof yet of fluid water being available on Mars right now† (20). On the off chance that we are just looking for extraterrestrial life that takes after what we have on earth, it might possibly take a long effort to discover extraterrestrial life. The hunt would not be worthless still, for we will accumulate a lot of proof about different parts of our universe all the while. No different, IS THE SEARCH FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE DOOMED TO FAIL? Page # 4 as indicated by chronicled and strict conventions of humankind, heavenly attendants are made of light and jinns are made of fire. It would maybe be best for researchers to take a stab at discovering life that depends on light and fire for sure. At the end of the day, researchers need to think about how conceivable it is that extraterrestrial life might be founded on a vast number of components. Water, air, and daylight may not be important to help different types of life. Seeing that we have not at this point found all that we can about our universe, we additionally should expect that we have neglected to consider the conceivable outcomes of different components making up extraterrestrial life. Consequently, researchers must be more open to investigation than previously, considering both the authentic and strict customs of extraterrestrial life, all together for their insight base to be finished. All things considered, they despite everything banter about the causes of life on earth †about God versus Darwin. In both of these conviction frameworks, our comprehension of life is inadequate. Neither God nor advancement has disclosed to human personalities everything to think about the universe. Thusly, suppositions are fundamental. In addition, it is urgent for researchers to free themselves up to substitute hypotheses of life. They may choose to begin by attempting to see blessed messengers of light and jinns of fire basically on the grounds that these creatures are alluded to in the verifiable and strict customs of humankind. In the end, we will undoubtedly discover extraterrestrial life, regardless of whether it implies that our earth might be wrecked by a space rock before researchers can catch for a gigantic scope pictures of heavenly attendants and jinns. All things considered, we as a whole may experience the encounters of the individuals who have been close to death, that is, there would seem a holy messenger of light to every single one of us and mention to us what we had to know. A Brief History of Sick Days

A Brief History of Sick Days A Brief History of Sick Days A Brief History of Sick DaysWhen it comes to guaranteeing paid medical leave, the United States is behind many European nations and possibly the Ancient Egyptians as well. With Memorial Day almost upon us, millions of Americans are going to be enjoying a well-earned day off. But there is one kind of day off that many Americans don’t enjoy: paid sick leave. Why is that? We reached out to a few experts and consulted the historical record to find out why.The United States lags behind.Depending on where you work or what kind of job you have, you might or might not be able to take paid time off work when you’re sick and need to recuperate. And if it seems like there is little rhyme or reason to our country’s system for guaranteeing paid sicks days, well, you’re exactly not wrong about that.Last year, we wrote a post chronicling the evolution of the U.S. health insurance system, which mostly amounted to laying out a series of historical accidents leading to the current arrangement we enjoyâ€"or maybe don’t enjoyâ€"today. And when it comes to the history of sick days, particularly in the United States, the story is much the same. While some level of paid sick leave is a standard workplace benefit in at least 145 countries around the world, currently there are no federal laws requiring private employers to provide paid sick leave for their employees who work in the United States,” explained Timothy Wiedman, retired professor of Management Human Resources at  Doane University (@DoaneUniversity).“A few U.S. cities (notably San Francisco and Washington, D.C.) have passed such legislation to cover a great many local employees who work within their jurisdictions, but those situations are very rare at this point.”“On the other hand, the majority of government workers and private-sector unionized employees do receive some level of paid sick leave benefits, Wiedman continued. “Further, a great many large and medium-sized companies also voluntarily provide s ome sort of paid sick leave for their (non-union) salaried and clerical employees.”“So in America, exactly ‘who’ receives paid sick leaveâ€"and how much leave theyre entitled toâ€"amounts to a hodgepodge of disparate plans that lack any uniformity.”Sick leave traces its origins back to Ancient Egypt. If you expect us to say something like “sick leave actually dates back to the Ancient Greeks,” you’d only be half right. The Ancient Greeks sure did invent a lot of things, but sick leave wasn’t one of them. For that, you’d have to take a trip across the Mediterranean.“The first record of sick days goes back to ancient Egypt,” said Richard Pummell, Human Resources Lead at DevelopIntelligence. “Craftsmen who were working on the tombs journaled their work activities and when they were paid in grain.“Historians have noted that these craftsmen continued to receive their payments of grain even after evidence showed the workers had taken ill for a period of time and was unable to work, thereby documenting the first sick days!”It would take another couple thousand years before the United States of America would even existâ€"but even then, this country’s views on paid sick leave were a little behind the times. And that view didn’t just extend to paid sick leave, but to the concept of paid vacation in general. In the 20th century, paid sick leave slowly improves. After the Industrial Revolution hadâ€"wellâ€"revolutionized the American workforce, the idea that perhaps giving workers a little extra time off might be good for them and for their employers began to take hole. In 1910, President William Howard Taft proposed legislation that would have guaranteed U.S. two to three months off every year!As you might have guessed, that bill did  not make it through Congress.“Sick days in the United States have evolved very slowly, said Hummell.” They first entered the vernacular as unions became prevalent and were looking for ways to ensure that m embers pay was consistent. Losing paid time over illness was problematic, and limited amounts of compensation paid for time not worked due to illness became more common. As most unions were engaged in male-dominated fields, females were less likely to be in an occupation that offered paid sick time.”“As corporations offered expanded benefits starting in the 1950s and 60s, paid sick days became more common but only to those employed by large organizations. Due to the lack of any federal law regarding payment of sick days to employees, those working for themselves or for smaller companies were not typically afforded this benefit,” he continued.FMLA represented a big step forward.Even though paid medical leave was becoming a bit more standard for U.S. employees, there were still no overarching government policies in place. On that front, progress wouldn’t be made for decades: The biggest step forward for paid leave in the United States came during the Clinton Administration.“ In 1993, Congress passed the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) which provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year for many (but certainly not all) U.S. workers (with no threat of job loss) to deal with personal or family health-related situations that are specified by the law,” said Wiedman.Still, unpaid medical leave isn’t the same thing as paid sick days. And decades after the passage of the FMLA, there’s a lot of progress still to be made.“Even now, employees in service industries such as restaurants and hotels are typically not provided with paid sick leave. This benefit is also usually only offered to full-time employees, so anyone who is part-time is also not likely to receive sick pay,” said Pummell.“Today, only nine states and a number of cities in the US require employers to offer paid sick leave. The United States definitely lags most of Europe in this regard, where extensive sick days that can extend into many weeks are offered and sick leave is managed by the employer, a physician, and the government.”So what does the future hold for sick days?A day off to rest up from a nasty cold is a great benefit, but being able to take paid time off to deal with a serious medical issue could mean the difference between a speedy recovery and filing for bankruptcy. These sorts of issues are how many people end up relying on predatory no credit check loans and short-term bad credit loansâ€"like payday loans, cash advances, and title loansâ€"to make ends meet, trapping them in a dangerous cycle of debt.So will things change anytime soon? Wiedman thinks so:“A great many business leaders (especially folks who represented the interests of small businesses) fought the passage of the FMLA It was thought to be the (so-called) thin edge of the wedge that would expand to cover more and more workersâ€"and would eventually require paid leave.“Thus far, that hasnt happened.  However, numerous politicians have made proposals that seem to fit that gener al agenda.  So personally, I doubt that the FMLA will remain in its current form indefinitely!”Are you prepared for a medical emergency? In order to protect yourself from an unexpected medical issue, you should have a well-stocked emergency fund in place. Soapbox on Chavs Free Essays

Don’t even get me started on chavs! CHAV: Council House Anti-social and Violent. We’ve heard about them all before, and we see them on the streets all the time. We all hate them and I’m here to explain why they should all be banned †¦ and preferably incarcerated. We will write a custom essay sample on Soapbox on Chavs or any similar topic only for you Order Now They are well known for their advanced linguistics and decent attire. The first thing we notice when seeing a chav are their tracky bottoms – or should I say their underwear, because their trousers usually hung down in the ankle region. They are usually aged about 16-22, and their stereotypical dress code would probably be wearing the famous snapback facing in a 90 degree angle, of course, wearing baggy fake adidas tracksuits with tonnes of fake gold jewellery which they can barely carry. These people are in gangs acting as if they’re 8 foot tall and built up like a rugby player, in the corner of the McDonald’s car park. I once unfortunately came into contact with one of these ‘gangsters’ on my way walking back home from my friend’s house. I was half way there when I just looked to my left and saw some filthy unwashed scum in a hoodie. I was trying my best to avoid when he shouted at me ‘Yo fam, ya got a cig on ya mate’. ‘Fam’ is an urban abbreviation for family; I was thinking to myself that how could this pathetic, low-life imbecile even think that I am his family or related to him in any possible way, whilst I didn’t even bother turning his way. If you haven’t already seen one, they are easy to spot, just look for people with a gangster limp. Don’t get me wrong, I mean I’m not a judge a book by its cover kind of guy, I have reasons for why I despise these people. Anyway it’s their own faults for why they are in that situation because they’ve all dropped out of high-school, and ran away from home living off on government benefits. Why should we constantly pay our unnecessarily high taxes for a bunch of self-homeless townies? And I’m not being sexist about this either because there are also female chavs or better known as ‘chavettes’, which quite frankly aren’t any better. These anti-social group of ugly teenage girls, black and white, who usually hang around near shopping centres, waiting for someone to p*** them off. There are the stupid teenage girls who hang out in groups of threes on their phones, chewing gum obnoxiously loud, with 1 earphone in acting as if they are 10 men shouting at a little kid two or three years younger than them. Then there are the 14 year old pregnant girls who will ram their pushchair right into the back of your foot, and give you a menacing glare, like wat u gna complain. They try to make a name out of themselves by starting fights and causing riots to get in the news to frighten the innocent people at home. Most people are afraid of getting out of their houses after sunset due to these ‘bad men’ as they like to address themselves. Isn’t it funny how the majority is scared by the minority? I suppose it adds to their gangster factor though, and also assists in making them look hard. I mean, come on, if we saw their un-matured, baby face walking down an alley, we wouldn’t exactly be scared would we? Even though they might be carrying a knife in their pocket waiting to shank you, more than half of them I bet won’t even know how to use it. It is quite obvious where these people get the idea from, it is all these disgusting celebrities; the teenage girls obviously follow celebs like Nicki Minaj and the boys attempt to imitate 50 cent and lil’ wayne. With all this in mind, I hope you will come to an agreement that they are a waste of space and this contagious disease should be dealt with before more of the youth in today’s society catches it. So please, friends join me in my rebellion and together we can make chavs history. How to cite Soapbox on Chavs, Papers

Carbon and Potassium Argon Dating essays

Carbon and Potassium Argon Dating essays There are two dating techniques I will quickly discuss. The first I will address is carbon dating, the second is Potassium-Argon dating. Carbon is used for the dating of once living material. To begin, there are three principle isotopes of carbon which occur naturally. These are C12, C13 and C14. Of these three, the first two are stable while the third is unstable, or radioactive which means it will slowly decay. The radiocarbon method is based on this decay or the rate of decay of the radioactive or unstable carbon isotope 14 (14C), which is formed in the upper atmosphere through the effect of cosmic ray neutrons upon nitrogen 14. The reaction is: (Where n is a neutron and p is a proton). Now, C14 is rapidly oxidized into 14CO2 which enters the planets animal life through photosynthesis and the animal food chain. C14 will also disperse into the oceans as dissolved carbonate. Since all life is made up of carbon, all life will intake carbon into the organism, in approximately the same natural ratios that C12, C13 and C14 exist in the atmosphere. These ratios remain steady until the organism dies. At which point its metabolism starts and C14 slowly begins to seep out (decay). This decay is what is measured. However radiocarbon dating is only usable for a dating span of about 1,000,000 years ago. Potassium-Argon dating is the only viable technique for dating very old archaelogical materials. This method has been used to date rocks up to 4 billion years old (almost the creation of the earth). Potassium-Argon dating is based on the fact that some of the radioactive isotope of Potassium-40 (K-40), decays to the gas Argon as Argon-40 (Ar-40). By comparing the ratios of K-40 to Ar-40 in a sample of volcanic rock when you know the decay rate of K-40, then date that the rock formed can be determined. This dating technique is possible because when rocks are heated to their melting point, any Ar-40 ...

Companies Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Companies - Essay Example Thus non-price competition prevails in the market and it is up to a particular firm to convince consumers that its product is superior. Only then can it charge a higher price vis-Ã  -vis rivals. Given a large number of sellers, collusion is practically impossible In the event of an increase in demand, leading to an increase in price, the firms in the industry may earn higher profits in the short run. However, over time, the existing firms in the market will increase their production capacity or new firms will enter the industry to take advantage of the higher price. Either way, the supply demand mismatch would vanish and the firms will earn normal profit only. The assumption of symmetry in monopolistic competition, which states that when a new firm enters the industry it draws customers equally from all firms, will lead to negligible change in the CR of the industry. The aforesaid discussion suggests that if J’s Assistant Living is to start operations, the company will have to offer a differentiated product. The company will not be able to compete on the price plank and will earn normal profits in the long run. In case J’s Assistant Living does not succeed, it will be able to exit the industry easily. The Concentration Ratio (CR) of 80 percent in industry B with 20 firms signifies that there is ‘high concentration’ in the industry. The industry is oligopoly as the few largest firms account for 80 percent of the market share. In an oligopoly, the market dominated by a relatively small number of large firms. These firms have considerable market power and may either sell standardized products or differentiated products. Each firm realizes that any move that it makes would be taken note of by competitors. As such, the decisions that a firm takes is strategic in nature as it invariably elicits a response from the rivals. The main characteristics of this industry type include barriers to entry and

Before and After Cloud Computing in DPG Group of Companies

Before and After Cloud Computing in DPG Group of Companies About the company DPR Group, Inc., a full-service public relations, marketing and communications agency, was stuck in a technology rut that stymied productivity and limited their growth. DPG group broke free of the break-fix model of managed services and leaped ahead with cloud computing. DPR Group with a vision to open small satellite offices in technology hubs throughout the eastern United States. At the time of my technology challenge, DPG had expanded to two offices for nearly 15 employees with their headquarters in Germantown, Maryland, and a second office in Cary, North Carolina. However, providing expert public relations and marketing services to high-tech companies requires a strong technology infrastructure to effectively communicate with   clients. Without an on-site IT resource, one of their obstacles to growth was finding a way to keep all   in-house technology running smoothly. For four years worked with a managed services provider to help maintain their PCs, a Dell PowerEdge Server, and internal networks in both of DPG offices. Although the CEO of   managed services provider spoke eloquently about their companys preventative approach to computer maintenance, they actually spent far more time trying to fix things after they broke. What were the problems before moving to cloud Before moving   cloud number   of issues that challenged their ability to maintain the high-level client service that they offer. Downtime, latency, reliability, and accessibility were just a few reoccurring issues. For example,   managed services provider would frequently run software updates on Sunday nights and, due to compatibility issues with the updates and a lack of testing, the server would often crash on Monday mornings. This left   staff scrambling to work from back-up files, while the managed services provider attempted to fix the problem. Also, when working remotely, their staff used Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) with severe latency and connectivity issues that caused delays and required additional time to complete basic tasks such as reconnection, file uploads, or even simply writing an email. Their managed services provider also experienced a lot of personnel turnover. Every time someone new started working on DPG account, they have to re-explain everything about not only the issue they were having, but also how our entire system was set up because the new expert staff was not familiar with their system. Not unexpectedly, DPG received daily complaints from my staff about how technology issues were making it difficult for everyone to do their job effectively. After discussing specific challenges with each of thier staff members, DPG calculated that every employee was losing from seven to nine days of productivity per year due to time spent waiting for a tech to fix the problems. What were the benefits of moving to cloud First they started   search for a new vendor by talking with a number of managed services providers that all promised to do a much better job of maintaining   computers and networks. More importantly, they started hearing the term cloud computing, and learned that it could streamline a lot of processes and significantly improve DPG productivity. Although cloud might be a better model for them, DPG also would need a local IT resource to maintain the basic hardware in our two different offices. After reviewing proposals from a number of providers within the Washington, D.C., metro area, DPG selected Virgina-based Cetrom Information Technology to take them to the cloud. This cloud computing service provider stood out from the rest for a few primary reasons. First, Cetrom offered a truly hosted cloud model. Other cloud providers would host data on the cloud, but install applications locally. It was either that, or they would have to use limited-functionality, software-as-a-service (SaaS) versions of their standard software. Cetrom, however, hosted the full, traditional versions of our software in the cloud and seamlessly mirrored a local environment. The Cetrom Hybrid places a small server on site in DPG headquarters that replicates the data to and from the cloud in real time. previously   they used to having all   IT within the office. Also, Cetroms senior-level engineers really took the time to understand DPG business goals and processes during roll out. From there, they designed   cloud solution for DPG-with strong business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and easy access to key applications-around all business, instead of making them adapt to a rigid, out-of-the-box solution. To avoid lost productivity hours, Cetroms engineers migrated DPG applications and data over the weekend .Working in the cloud provides numerous benefits. The primary benefit is the anytime, anywhere access to all the files and applications, with only an Internet connection. The ability to set permissions by users is also extremely beneficial as it ensures only authorized personnel have access to files, such as financials. Cetrom not only maintains its equipment and ensures the security of all its clients data, the company also constantly reviews the applications and services it provides clients to ensure they are the best available. Since moving to the Cetrom cloud, the company has changed spam filters for the email a few times, and each time they seen an improvement. The current version now catches about 99.5 percent of all incoming spam emails-an immense improvement over our previous provider. Perhaps the most important benefit of all is system reliability. Cetrom has a track record of zero downtime since its founding nearly 15 years ago. This one aspect returned nearly 10 hours of productivity back to DPG staff-equal to $50,000 annually-so they can focus on serving DPG clients. The cost savings from operational expenses in North Carolina-more than $70,000 annually-allowed them to move from   Germantown, Maryland, location to a larger, nicer office in Frederick, Maryland, with double the capacity for staff. Migrating to the cloud with Cetrom was one of the best business decisions DPG ever made. They have not had any downtime since DPG started with Cetrom, DPG data is available anytime, and they dont receive complaints from the staff about technology issues anymore.

Social Media on Society

Facebook the world. Since the beginning social networking sites, like Facebook has attracted several types of users, and in most cases, these people have incorporated these websites into their daily practices. While some sites support existing relationships, others help creating new relationships in different interests such as political views, religious, activities or even just gaming! While supporting Facebook on society is beneficial, one can find several factors that go against it, such as cyber bulling. Indeed, social networking provides society a lot of good tools, nonetheless people have taken social networking for granted. One of the main reasons and most popular because people use social networking sites is to keep in touch with friends and relatives while they are away. It aids the fact that several people who live away from their home receive continuous support from friends and people they communicate through Internet. According to a website article (ProCon. org, Page 2), 60 million of Americans received assistance with major life issues from people on their social network. â€Å"These people said social networking sites helped them connect with friends and experts who assisted on their decisions† (ProCon. rg, Page 2). With the technology developed by social networking, long distance communication has become much simpler and accessible to the average person; It has facilitated users to keep up with the face-to-face relationship with their friends and relatives. Not only does it facilitate the â€Å"virtual† contact between its users, but also it can be a technique to arrange personal meetings for different purposes. Taking into account the features social networking offers, it is also considered as a very potential tool that has even substitute traditional methods of communication. It has helped people getting to know deeper statistics about certain general interest topics such as politics. One day before the last US presidential election, the Democratic candidate had more followers than the Republican candidate in most of the social networking sites such as Facebook, My space and Twitter (ProCon. org, Page 2 & 3). I believe that since the majority of people that join social networking sites are a young crowd, their decisions and opinions have a strong influence and have a very solid word out in the world referring to any topic, in this case political. When the Internet boom started years ago, many schools considered the Internet a â€Å"distraction† that was not really necessary. Beginning with scholars, social networking has been playing a very significant system on today’s education. Parents have claimed that their children have improved their writing, reading and conflict resolution skills, and learned how to express themselves better, and meet new students around the world (Cassel, Page1)( Procon. org, Page 2). By expanding the sources of information and feedback students have the ability of gatheri ng more information and learn more about their interests. The fact that is very easy to communicate with their classmates through any chat or website makes their education fun and interactive. Incorporating social networking as a tool of learning, schools and different institutes have developed â€Å"safety policies† that protect users from any harm through Internet. Using social networking to enlarge your business opportunities is a great tool mostly used by young professionals. Getting into an unknown world in your career, young professionals see social networking as a guide and a way of easily targeting their interest in a professional level.Searching for a job or starting your own business requires exposing those services to several people in order to have success. With social networking professionals are a click away of letting the world know who they are and their services. It’s easier to tell your abilities to a large â€Å"virtual† group of people once, t han having to tell capabilities one hundred times individually. It’s time consuming, and a time is money. Because of that and other reasons, social networking has been used as an advertisement method.Big, medium and small size companies are utilizing social networking to deliver to consumers their product and facilitate the access for further information about their services (Accardi, Page 20). Besides companies, people are taking advantage of the â€Å"marketplace† offered by social websites to advertise personal items and make a profit. Just like everything, social networking has its down side as well. It can influence people, especially teenagers, in a negative and/or destructive way.An average of time spent on social networking is 9 hours per day, which could be applied to more productive activities such as sports, and education (ProCon. org, Page 1). Over-communication drives users to the release of confidential and personal information that can be easily taken an d manipulated by anyone. By displaying personal information opens doors to sexual predators, identity thieves, and cyber-bullying which can affect society in many aspects. â€Å"Department of Defense is considering a ban on social networking sites because of concerns over security threats and potential computer viruses† (ProCon. rg, Page 2). Even the government with all its security systems, has taken serious actions regarding social networking with their employees, and members to avoid any leak of information. Furthermore, companies are adopting this system of social networks to either recruit people or firing current employees. Social networking is also highlighted by the fact of joining groups of common interest. However, when people limit themselves to their interests only, they are preventing themselves of growth (Pagliarini, Page 1).Limiting yourself from acknowledging information in certain topics or groups could also isolate you from society that could benefit you int ellectually and professionally. Another harmful aspect of social networking is that it could affect your health, specially children’s brain development as well as mental disorders. â€Å"My fear is that these technologies are infantilizing the brain into the state of small children who are attracted by buzzing noises and bright lights, who have a small attention span and who live for the moment† (Cassel, Page 1).It has also been stated that the personal contact with people is healthier that looking at a screen. Having more direct contact with the world also benefits the quality of relationships we develop. Sometimes people focus more in the virtual method of networking, rather than the â€Å"non-virtual† and it separates people from actual physical networks that could end up in a good personal or business relationship. Social networking has an enormous impact on today’s society. Many believe that social networking is beneficial, others don’t.Having the opportunity to investigate more into social networking brought up to my attention that it can be very beneficial as long as we can control the web and the web doesn’t control us. The power of social networking is very capable of putting companies on top of the list, or leaving people out in the streets without a job. The ability of shorten distances between families and friends has been the number one use of social networking, unfortunately many individuals take advantage of social networking and start persecuting innocent people and creating harm to society. The benefits provided by social networking have made society and individuals become more productive and updated with today’s world technology. It’s a magnificent tool with a lot of good outcomes, a tool that in some cases is very costly for the wellness of society. Relationship Between Class Stratification And Sport

Introduction: This essay discusses in detail about the relationship between class stratification and sport in regards to two sociologists views; Karl Marx and Bero Rigauer. These theories specify that sports are shaped by unequal distribution of power in social classes demonstrated in terms of access, control, and social mobility. Karl Marx, was an 18th century German philosopher, economist, sociologist, journalist, and revolutionary socialist. He was one of the first theorist to develop a conflict perspective on how society functions. His theory became known as Marxism, he saw that the ruling class represented and ruled the common interest of all social groups. Continuing with Marxism, it is a social class conflict within capitalism that†¦show more content†¦Moreover, he argues that the capitalist class has completely taken over the sport and have become pre-determined due to social categories. (Cashmore, 2000, pg. 95). Structures of social inequality among a group of people are called social stratification. Social stratification is an institutionalized system of power arrangements – of domination and subordination (wealthy vs. poor) because those who retain social power and resources can control and shape the lives of those who lack them (Sage, 1990, pg. 35). Due to each inequality there is an unequal distribution of power among social classes that shape the patterns of peoples social lives. Class stratification is driven by the economic and political system – capitalism. This system is empowered by private investors or individuals that become owners of a production and distribution of goods and services. Capitalist hold power over those who produce their goods and services, also known as workers (Sage, 1990, pg. 37). Furthermore, this means the capitalist class have more access to resources and power than the workers that lack productivity. This imbalance proves that the capitalist views of the world confine the lower-class views of the world which is not how it should be portrayed. Therefore, relating this to sport the structures of social inequality are displayed through the access, control and social mobility that is given. Some factors that we can take into account when studying sports in

Religion As An Excuse For Violence - 1270 Words

Almost all religions around the world are based on a belief. Almost every religion have certain rules and principles that order together within a society: Many people misunderstand and misinterpret the holy texts the Bible, Quran, Torah, and others fabricate. Religion is man-made and was created for many reasons but mainly to keep peace and justice in the world. But the words can be manipulated and used as an excuse to start wars on this planet.
